The roast level I chose falls neatly in between medium and darker sides of medium, with a lovely glossy sheen that's not oily at all. I was skeptical at first - a new coffee machine had arrived, courtesy of my husband's gift. As I watched him take his first sip, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity. A cup later and I was hooked. The flavor was so different from the ground coffee jars I'd been using previously, and the pod system he'd grown accustomed to in their place. It was like a whole new world opened up.

I made it my mission to try out this decaf, not just for its taste, but also to see how much of an improvement it would bring. Unfortunately, after switching to Illy's version, I found that even without the added caffeine boost, the flavor didn't quite live up to my expectations.

Still, there was one thing that remained constant - my ability to fall asleep at a reasonable hour. A good night's rest had always been elusive for me, and it seemed like this decaf was doing just that. I've since discovered that switching to Illy's version has solved the problem once again, leaving me with no reason to look elsewhere.

One thing I do wish is that they offered a bigger tin option - as it stands, the smaller tins are barely enough to fill my coffee mug. Still, it's a minor quibble when compared to the real stars of this show: the smooth, velvety milk and the sheer bliss of being able to get to sleep on time.

I first had Illy Coffee in Detroit back in 2025 and I was impressed by its smooth flavor, which I've been searching for ever since. It's a nice tin to carry around with me, and I'm glad it has finally arrived in the UK.

As for my experience with this particular coffee, I must say it's been a welcome addition to my daily routine. The Illy offer is lovely, but unfortunately it lacks the rich, full-bodied taste that I've grown accustomed to from other brands.
